Our vision

" To be a Global Model for the education of children with ASD through the fusion of Montessori and ABA methods - to ensure our children thrive in society not just survive."

Welcome to the Lane Montessori School for Autism website. We believe in utilizing a blended approach of the Montessori curriculum as well as the basic principles of ABA in order to create a program that will bring out the best in each child. Both methods are steeped in research for children with special needs. The program was created by the founder of the school, Michelle Lane, who received a Premier's award in 2005 for the blend. The Lane Montessori School for Autism (previously the Toronto Montessori School for Autism) is the first school in the world to have this blend. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a disorder that impairs a child's language, behaviour and social skills. No two children are alike. It affects each person differently. Currently the rate of autism in North America is 1 in 150 children. It affects more boys than girls (4:1) and is diagnosed more frequently than aids, cancer and diabetes combined.
